Chad Boseman To Bring Marvel's Long Awaited "Black Panther" Character To Life

ALSO KNOWN FOR HIS MARRIAGE TO STORM, THE BLACK PANTHER IS CONSIDERED TO BE MARVEL’S FIRST BLACK SUPERHERO

The Marvel universe is a large one and the recent success of films like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor,  The Avengers and X-Men has only opened the doors for more projects to be developed.

One character that has received a fair amount of speculation and attention is Avengers member Black Panther,  long considered to be one of Marvel’s first Black superheroes. (Yes he came before John Stewart’s version of the Green Lantern.)

Actor Chadwick Boseman (known for his recent portrayals of Jackie Robinson and James Brown) has already been tapped to play the role and recently joined  Captain America actor Chris Evans at a studio event where it was revealed that the character  will officially be introduced in Captain America: Civil War, which is slated to be released on May 6, 2016.

It will be interesting to see the direction the studio goes in, as fans of the comic are already well aware of his connection to Captain America, whose shield is made from materials only found in the Panther’s homeland.

According to Marvel President Kevin Feige, “In terms of Black Panther, it’s absolutely in development, and when you have something as rich as Wakanda and [Black Panther’s] backstory – and clearly, Vibranium’s been introduced in the universe already – I don’t know when it will be exactly but certainly we have plans to bring him to life someday.”
