T.I. Discusses Reports Troy Ave Is Signed To Grand Hustle

IS TROY AVE OFFICIALLY GRAND HUSTLE?

(AllHipHop News) Earlier this year news reports began to circulate that Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave was joining the team at T.I.’s Grand Hustle imprint. Tip revealed a deal was “in the works” in an interview with Angela Yee, but few details about the signing have emerged since that conversation this summer.

The Breakfast Club caught up with T.I. backstage at the Powerhouse 2014 concert in New York, and the “About The Money” performer was asked about his business relationship with Troy.

“I will say he is definitely closely associated [with Grand Hustle]. The business part of it – we’re still working that part out,” explained Tip. “I respect him a lot for this – he’s making it a point to say, ‘Hey listen, I got to get a certain amount of the groundwork done myself.’ He don’t wanna just come in and have us do everything.”

Troy has already released three projects in 2014. He dropped the mixtape BSB Vol. 4 in May. That was followed by BSB Vol. 5 and BSB Vol. 5: The Extras (EP) in August. His 2013 studio LP New York City: The Album helped secure Troy Ave a spot on XXL’s 2014 Freshmen Class list.
