Big K.R.I.T Talks 'Cadillactica', Why He Almost Quit Music And More

Mississippi emcee Big K.R.I.T is riding high off the release of his sophomore album,  Cadillactica, and stopped by the Breakfast Club. During their convo, he spoke about how clearing samples delayed his previous project, how Cadillactica stands out and that moment when he almost quit music.

On Cadillactica

“When it came time to create Cadillactica I just wanted to show growth in me as an artist and just as an musician. So, Why not do a concept album and sequence it in a way where it tells a story  every song and its a different vibe and different mindset you go through in life and growing up.”

When He Thought Music Wasn’t Going To Work

“Beats weren’t selling. That was a point where people were like ‘yo let me rap on the beat and if it takes off I’ll come back and give you some bread.’ Everybody would find somebody to mix their records. The quality of music was changing because you could get your hands on a program and mix it with ease. So I was damn near out of a job at that point. I remember I was like I’m either gonna buy some food or pay this cell phone bill…”
