Dilla Day Officially Moves To Miami

AN ANNUAL CELEBRATION HONORING J DILLA HAS BEEN MOVED TO MIAMI THIS FEBRUARY

Extending itself from a day to a weekend celebration, Dilla Day has been relocated from the late producer’s native Detroit in favor of Miami from February 5-8. The annual event will feature various meet and greets, a producer panel as well as performances from Joes Bada$$, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock, Slum Village and more.

Dilla’s music is timeless and lives in all of us. I expect Miami to become the icon of event holders for the Dilla legacy and raise the bar for events globally,” said his mother Maureen Yancey (also known as Ma Dukes) who will also host the event. Born James Dewitt Yancey, he passed away in 2006 after battling a rare blood disease.
