Will The Cast Of "Empire" Head Out On A Real Life Music Tour?

BRYSHERE GRAY (AKA HAKEEM LYON) ON THE POSSIBILITY THE FOX SERIES COULD BE HEADED ON THE ROAD

(AllHipHop News) Lee Daniels’ series Empire is a bona fide hit for Fox. The show pulled off the rare feat of seeing rating increases for the first three weeks of its premiere season, totaling an impressive 10.9 million viewers for the third episode.

Viewers can’t seem to get enough of the Lyon family drama playing out on their television screens. That connection to the audience has even turned over to supporting Empire‘s Timbaland-produced soundtrack.

Singles featured on the show have broken onto Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs and R&B/Hip Hop Digital Songs charts. The five-track EP Empire: Music From The Pilot debuted at number 8 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

With the early success of the Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard led program, could the cast take their talents on the road for an Empire tour? Fox has a history of transforming its music-centered TV brands into nationwide arena performances.

Glee Live! In Concert! grossed over $45 million in 2010 and 2011, and the finalists from the network’s long-running singing competition American Idol go out on tour at the end of each season. American Idols Live! Tour 2006 was the financial peak for the annual trek. The season five contestants brought in $35 million at the box office.

AllHipHop.com spoke with actor/rapper Bryshere Gray (Hakeem Lyon) about the possibility he and his fellow Empire cast members could be following in the footsteps of Glee with tour dates in the near future.

“Maybe, we gotta let the world decide,” Gray responded.

The Philadelphia native shied away from giving a definitive answer, but Gray did provide a hint a big announcement involving touring is on the horizon.

The entertainer who also goes by Yazz The Greatest revealed, “Yeah, we have a little surprise for you. That’s going to come out very soon.”
