Naked And Unarmed Georgia Man Killed By Police

27-YEAR-OLD BIPOLAR MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED BY POLICE IN GEORGIA

A 27-year-old Georgia man was shot yesterday (Mar. 9) in Chamblee, GA by Dekalb County Police, according to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution. Anthony Hill, who suffered from bipolar disorder, was naked and unarmed at the time of the shooting.

Police were responding to a call that said a “suspicious person” was crawling around The Heights at Chamblee apartment complex naked and knocking on residents’ doors. When police approached him, Hill began to run towards them and when he didn’t listen to demands to stop, he was shot twice. The officer who pulled the trigger is a seven-year vet whose identity has not been revealed. He is currently being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to see if he acted appropriately, considering that Hill was mentally ill. He’s also on administrative leave.

Cedric Alexander, director of the county public safety department, said that the police force receives training on how to deal with the mentally ill but their training may need to be revamped.
