“We kind of went back to that Cash Money feel, what you grew up on. The Mannie Fresh sound you knew,” said Mannie. “It’s more of that first Carter.”

The New Orleans native contributed tracks to previous Wayne album such as The Block Is Hot, Lights Out, 500 Degreez, and Tha Carter. Wayne’s Carter V has been held up for months by his label Cash Money.

Mannie also discussed fellow high-profile Hip Hop producer Kanye West. He explained why he believes the GOOD Music leader is important to Hip Hop.

“Kanye is very passionate about what he does. That’s what so incredible about him. There will never be another Kanye West,” stated Fresh. “America sees Kanye. He’s super passionate, and he’ll jump out there at you. That’s the great thing about him. I think Hip Hop needs him. We need more people like him.”
