Interscope Expected Dr. Dre’s ‘Compton’ To Sell A Million Copies?

JOE BUDDEN SAYS THE LABEL THOUGHT DRE COULD DO A MILLI IN A WEEK

Dr. Dre’s new album “Compton” opened with some nice sales numbers. The Doc’s comeback project sold 276,000 (295,000 eau) copies in its first week. That’s among the highest totals for the year, but was it still a disappointment for his label? According to Joe Budden, the answer is yes.

“Interscope expected 800,000 to 1,000,000,” said Joe on his podcast.

Even though Joey’s signed to Shady/Interscope with Slaughterhouse, he may not be the best source for the inner workings of the record company. Regardless, 276K in 2015 is a really good start. Especially since it was only available on iTunes and for stream on Apple Music.
