Pharrell Williams Will Be Donating 50,000 Books To Young Readers

Pharrell Williams is teaming up with publishing company, Young Penguin Readers, to donate 50,000 books to young readers, Billboard reports. Through a partnership with FirstBook, a non-profit literacy organization, as well the books will go to children in under-served low-income communities.

“Every child on this planet deserves to experience the joy of reading,” Skateboard P said in a statement.

The hashtag, #readHappy, will be used on Twitter for readers to share posts and pictures about why reading makes them “Happy.” For every post on social media a donation will be made.

Not only is the Virginia rep donating books, he is also creating them. He is producing a series of picture books based on his Oscar-nominated hit “Happy.” The first book, entitled Happy, will be released next week.
