Drake’s “Hotline Bling” Omitted From Grammy Consideration Over Cash Money’s “Clerical Error”

COULD DRIZZY HAVE RACKED UP EVEN MORE NOMS?

(AllHipHop News) “Hotline Bling” is one of the biggest records of Drake’s career. The single reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and the video nearly broke the internet. So why didn’t the massive hit get any Grammy nominations?

Drake was not snubbed by the Grammy committee. According to reports, his label, Cash Money Records, did not submit “Hotline Bling” for consideration due to a “clerical error.” The song was likely to receive nods in several categories had CMR properly completed the process.

It should be noted that other musical work by Drake did receive nominations. The OVO leader is up for Best Rap Album (If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late), Best Rap Song (“Energy”), and Best Rap Performance (“Back To Back”).

It is not clear why those particular efforts did not suffer the same “clerical error” as “Hotline Bling.”  In addition, Drake will also compete for the Best Rap Performance award as a guest on fellow Cash Money artist Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter” and the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award as a guest on Nicki’s “Only.”
