‘The 90’s FreakNik’ Documentary Tells The Story Of The Legendary Atlanta Spring Break Event (VIDEO)

WATCH HOW THE AUC PICNIC BECAME THE BIGGEST PARTY IN THE SOUTH

(AllHipHop News) Back in the 1990’s, the only Spring Break worth going to for young people from HBCUs was the annual Freaknik event in Atlanta. What began as a picnic in the 1980’s for students at the Atlanta University Center grew into a weekend long event which featured travelers from around the country and concerts with big named stars.

The story of Freaknik has now been told through a 40-minute documentary posted to YouTube. Several Atlanta-based entertainers and DJs speak about how over 100,000 people eventually converged on the city for the biggest party in the south and the impact the event had on the rise of southern music to the mainstream.
