EXCLUSIVE: DJ Amen And DJ Carisma Speak On Breaking Records And The Young California Wave

EXCLUSIVE: DJ AMEN & DJ CARISMA SPEAK ON BREAKING CALI RECORDS!

(AllHipHop News) Last night AllHipHop.com spoke exclusively with two of California’s most renown DJs while at a listening session for Taylor Gang femcee Raven Felix.

With DJ Amen, hailing from The Bay and DJ Carisma hailing from Los Angeles, the two have built a brand in Young California that makes them  arguably two of the most influential DJ’s in California.

L.A. bred DJ, DJ Dre Sinatra who is also Ty Dolla $ign’s tour DJ, is traveling across Europe with Ty and is also part of this DJ crew that has been breaking talent left and right.

The Young California DJ’s have been able to break record after record in the California market via club performances, major radio time slots and using their Young California studios in Burbank for listening sessions.

“Man I’m just glad that we were the one’s that were a part of it and we were the ones to really help spearhead the movement,” DJ Carisma explained of the Young California wave. “It feels good to look at things and be like,  ‘Yo we did that!’ But nah, there is still a lot of work to be done each year. We got to keep it going, so the battle continues. I literally have an event every day, every week, so best thing to do is just follow me on social media to see where I’m at.”

DJ Amen also spoke about helping create the Young California wave that’s catapulted the trio of DJ’s to a new Young California radio show every Saturday and Sunday from 7pm – Midnight on LA’s Real 92.3.

“The last couple years have been crazy in The Bay because we have amazing sports teams. There’s just this amazing sense of pride in the city with Giants and the Warriors and the Sharks in the playoffs. Being around during Super Bowl week, I taped the whole thing and I’ve never seen parties of that magnitude in The Bay like that,” DJ Amen explained.

“I started at KMEL 8 or 9 years ago and  I learned a lot under Big Vaughn and Scotty Fox and Mind Motion. Before I linked up with Carisma to get Young California poppin’, I had to find my own lane because those guys are legends. My lane was the youth and helping young artists and encouraging them,” DJ Amen said.

“That’s when I found Roach Gigz, IamSu! and a lot of these kids out in The Bay. That’s how the HeartBreakGang opened the doors for that generation. You had G-Eazy, Kehlani, Sage the Gemini, Kreashawn and it was one after other. They all had a platform and that was really with KMEL. Then with the Young California platform it just extended beyond radio.”

The Young California brand has brought great success individually to the two DJ’s as well.

DJ Carisma is currently female DJ of the year two years running and she’s “going for the three-peat” like MJ and Kobe with new songs in hand.

“I got lots of songs coming, make sure to check out my new single with Chris Brown & Dej Loaf and I got a new song coming out on May 7th so def look out for that,” she added.

DJ Amen is heavily focused on his “Blessed” brand of clothing that’s started to take off in the Bay and Los Angeles.

” It was just like the perfect wave of talent, artists and culture all in one contributing to Hip-Hop and breaking great records. Young California has really brought Bay and LA together.”
