According to the publication, Aubrey Drake Graham has joined Sean “Diddy” Combs ($750 million), Andre “Dr. Dre” Young ($710 million), Shawn “Jay Z” Carter ($610 million), and Bryan “Birdman” Williams ($110 million) among the richest rap figures. The OVO founder jumped over 50 Cent with a current net worth of $60 million.

The arrival of Drake and the listing of Birdman in “The Forbes Five” comes somewhat as a surprise to some observers since other Hip Hop representatives reportedly have a similar or even larger net worth than the two YMCMB stars.

Individuals such as Master P ($350 million), Eminem ($120 million), Snoop Dogg ($110 million), Ice Cube ($100 million), Lil Wayne ($100 million), and others have been said to have accumulated wealth exceeding $100 million.

Forbes describes its procedure for creating the list as follows:

To compile the Forbes Five list, we follow the same procedures used to calculate our list of the world’s billionaires: looking at past earnings, valuing current holdings, leafing through real estate records and talking to analysts, attorneys, managers, venture capitalists and some of the moguls themselves to find the details.
