Drake Dominates 2016 iHeartRadio Music Music Video Awards

DRAKE CLEANS UP AT THE iHeartRadio Music Music Video Awards!

(AllHipHop News) Drake dominated the 2016 iHeartRadio Much Music Video Awards on Sunday (June 19), winning five of the top awards.

The Toronto native’s “Hotline Bling” won the Canadian music video network’s annual prizegiving’s biggest gong of the night for Video of the Year, as well as Best Hip Hop Video and Best Director for Director X.

Drake also earned the title of Most Buzzworthy Canadian, and his collaboration with Majid Jordan, “My Love,” also won Best MuchFACT Video. Meanwhile Jordan won another trophy for Best Post-Production thanks to his music video for “Every Step of the Way.”

Drake was not on hand for the Toronto event, as he’s been in the Dominican Republic filming the music video for “No Shopping” – the latest single from rapper French Montana.

With Sunday’s five wins, Drake now has a total of eight Music Music Video Awards, tying Avril Lavigne for the most victories at the annual ceremony, just behind Our Lady Peace and Billy Talent, who each have 10.

Pop star Camila Cabello also had a big night with four wins – two with girl group Fifth Harmony (Fan Fave International Artist or Group and Most Buzzworthy International Artist or Group), and two for her duet with Shawn Mendes, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” (Best Pop Video and Fan Fave Video).

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, who kicked off the prizegiving with an electrifying performance, were named iHeartRadio International Duo or Group of the Year, and birthday boy Macklemore was especially proud of the prize, telling the crowd, “My wife is actually a dual citizen, so now that I have this award, I’m pretty sure I’m Canadian now.”

Other winners included Nick Jonas (iHeartRadio International Artist of the Year), Justin Bieber (Fan Fave Artist or Group), Alessia Cara (Best New Canadian Artist) and The Weeknd (iHeartRadio Canadian Single of the Year – Can’t Feel My Face).

The prizegiving, hosted by model Gigi Hadid, also included performances by Jonas, Fifth Harmony, Alessia Cara, Desiigner, and Tegan and Sara, while actors such as Tyler Posey, Lucy Hale and Shemar Moore were on hand to present the accolades.
