Fat Joe Settles Lawsuit With Big Pun’s Widow

“WE ARE PLEASED WITH THE SETTLEMENT”

(AllHipHop News) Fat Joe and Big Pun’s widow Liza Rios have come to an agreement over the legal issues surrounding the late emcee’s music profits. Rios sued the Terror Squad leader for breach of contract, reportedly for more than $1 million.

Bossip reports Joe and his co-defendant music publisher Jelly’s Jams has agreed to terms with Rios.

Lawyers for both sides met for mediation at Manhattan Federal Court on Wednesday, and a confidential settlement was eventually reached.

“We are pleased with the settlement,” stated Rios’ lawyer Lita Rosario. “We think it was fair, and we’re pleased.”

This development comes after years of animosity between Joe and Rios. At one point, Rios blamed Joe for her family having to move into a homeless shelter.

The “All The Way Up” performer then accused Pun’s widow of brainwashing her kids to believe he was stealing money from them.

Fat Joe was instrumental in Big Pun breaking out as a platinum-selling Hip-Hop artist in the 1990’s. The two Bronx natives collaborated on songs such as “Watch Out,” and “Twinz (Deep Cover 98).”

Christopher “Big Pun” Rios passed away on February 7, 2000 at the age of 28. His cause of death was listed as a heart attack and respiratory failure.
