Birdman Threatened With Lawsuit Over “Respek” Merchandise

BIRDMAN MIGHT HAVE TO “RESPEK” A THREAT FROM A RIVAL CLOTHING BRAND!

(AllHipHop News) Bryan “Birdman” Williams’ attempts to turn around a disastrous interview on “The Breakfast Club” may be thwarted by legal action over his attempts to build a brand out of the word “Respek.”

The Cash Money/Rich Gang founder was ridiculed after he ordered host Charlamagne The God to “put some respek (respect)” on his name during an interview back in April.

After the short interview went viral, Birdman began to hawk T-Shirts with the phrase, in addition to releasing the a music video for the song “Respek.”

According to TMZ.com, the owner of a clothing company already owns the trademark for the word “Respek,” which he received in 2005.

The company has been promoting shirts and hats with the word “Respek” for several years. The owner of the company believes Birdman has raked in a hundreds of thousands of dollas in merchandise sales.

The company is threatening Birdman with lawsuit unless he gives up a portion of his earnings from the sales of his merchandise.
