(AllHipHop News) Over the July 4th holiday weekend, almost 4,000 people came out to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
The event was organized by Cinespa in Los Angeles for Prince fans, and a paid tribute to the singer and his legacy by screening his 1984 classic, “Purple Rain.”
“This is probably the most revolutionary musical committed to film definitely in the last few decade, probably the most effective, not since The Beatles’ ‘Hard Day’s Night” came out in the 60’s,” said Questlove.
The Roots’ co-founder then brought out Miguel, Nas, Dave Chappelle and Wendy and Lisa of Prince’s band The Revolution.
“I chose tonight to be here with the people who really loved him,” said group member Wendy Melvoin. “And to spend a southern california night out having a really peaceful night, watching a really great rock and roll movie that changed a lot of people’s lives. I was 18-years-old when I made that movie. It’s really meaningful for me to have everybody here’s who here.”
