Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta’ Premiere Draws Highest Viewers For Cable Comedy In Three Years

(AllHipHop News) Donald Glover achieved success as a Grammy-nominated performer and as a star of NBC’s Community.

The rapper/actor can add another triumph to his resume. Vulture reports Glover’s new FX show Atlanta collected the highest numbers of viewers for a basic cable comedy debut in three years.

The September 6 series premiere – “The Bang Bang”  – was watched by 1.2 million tune-in viewers. Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer opened with 1.56 million viewers in 2013.

With 3-day DVR numbers added, “The Bang Bang” collected 1.8 million total viewers. A second Atlanta show was also broadcast on premiere night and was able to maintain 92% of the audience.

The third episode of Atlanta aired last night (September 13) with a guest appearance by the rap group Migos. Watch episodes of Atlanta at fxnetworks.com.
