In other news…Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture is finally here after taking 100 years to craft. According to early reports, the museum is amazing and presents an expansive look at the history and life of African Americans.  A unique 3D interactive exhibit will emerge next year, a technological feat made possible from a $1 million grant from Google.org. Dr. Lonnie Bunch, the NMAAHC’s director, visited Google’s headquarters and lobbied for his vision. “I immediately knew I wanted to be involved, and pulled together people from across the company: designers who focus on user interaction, members of the Cultural Institute, engineers who work on everything from Google Maps to YouTube, and members of the Black Googler Network,” said Travis McPhail, Software Engineer, Google Maps, and Team Lead, Project Griot. “For the past year, we’ve been working to deliver on Dr. Bunch’s vision.” McPhail maintained that the interactive, virtual experience will allow people to view more than a typical museum, that is limited by space constraints. “With 3D scanning, 360 video, multiple screens and other technologies, visitors can see artifacts like a powder horn or handmade dish from all angles by rotating them with a mobile device,” he urged. The interactive exhibit opens in spring of 2017.

VH1 and 345 Games have rolled out “Love & Hip Hop: The Game,” a new mobile app based the reality franchise. The “Love & Hip Hop” mobile app allows users to create and customize characters then put them into the wild world of “Love & Hip Hop” as an unknown artist. As an artist, the user then must fight to rise to prominence in the show. “‘Love & Hip Hop’ fans are the most passionate enthusiasts and we developed the game to fuel their passion and further extend this hit franchise into a true lifestyle brand that reaches fans worldwide,” said Dan Yang, Viacom’s EVP & GM of Consumer Products. Cast members Remy Ma, Papoose Yandy and Rich Dollaz are all included in the game.   “Love & Hip Hop” executive producer Mona Scott-Young oversaw the creative side of the game. “This is such an exciting and unique opportunity for us to extend the brand. Our viewers love following the exciting exploits of the cast and now, they too can be immersed in the world and live it for themselves. This is an opportunity for fans and aspiring artists alike to virtually get in the hip hop game,” said Scott-Young, CEO of Monami Entertainment. The game is free to play and available worldwide on IOS and Android.
