Jay Z On Board To Produce Richard Pryor Biopic Directed By Lee Daniels

AND THE MOVIES KEEP COMING FOR JAY

(AllHipHop News) Jay Z and The Weinstein Company (TWC) are involved in the production of a new biopic recounting the life of famous comedian Richard Pryor.

The title for the new film Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said, is taken from the comedian’s 1975 Grammy-winning live album.

Also, the biopic is set to be directed by Empire creator Lee Daniels, while Bill Condon has handled the script writing.

The biopic’s cast will have some stars involved, with comedian Mike Epps playing Pryor, Oprah Winfrey playing his grandmother, and Kate Hudson playing the role of the comedian’s widow Jennifer Lee Pryor.

Production for the new film was initially postponed in May by The Weinstein Company after Lee Daniels left the gig due to scheduling issues.

However, Harvey Weinstein announced that production for the film is back on at a recent press conference unveiling a documentary series to be produced by TWC and Jay Z on the social injustices faced by Kalief Browder.

Production for Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said is set to begin early 2017.
