Donald Glover Added To The Cast Of Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ Prequel

THE ATLANTA ACTOR-RAPPER IS TAKING ON AN ICONIC SCIENCE FICTION ROLE

(AllHipHop News) Donald Glover is joining the Star Wars universe.

The actor-rapper has been cast as the young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff movie centered around Han Solo.

Glover will tackle the character originally played by Billy Dee Williams in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back and 1983’s Return Of The Jedi.

Alden Ehrenreich (Blue JasmineHail, Caesar!) was previously announced as the young Solo in the currently untitled motion picture directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” states Lord and Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”

Glover’s filmography includes roles in Magic Mike XXL and The Martian.

In addition, the Stone Mountain, Georgia native also serves as creator, writer, and lead actor for the popular FX television series Atlanta.

Besides a career in TV and film, Glover is also a Grammy nominated Hip Hop artist that performs under the name Childish Gambino.

The untitled Han Solo movie is scheduled for release in 2018.
