Rapper Vic Mensa just dropped the video for his track “16 Shots” from his EP There’s Alot Going On.

Vic dropped the video for the politically themed song exclusively on TIDAL earlier this evening (October 22).

The video and the song “16 Shots” addresses the death of fellow Chicago native Laquan McDonald, who was shot 16 times by Chicago Police Officer Jason Van D### on October 20, 2014.

“This record is like self-defense,” Vic Mensa told AllHipHop.com in a statement released tonight.

“Because to me, Laquan McDonald represents Emmett Till, which represents every name down the line and since then a lot of things have changed, but one main thing hasn’t changed is that our lives are not respected,” Vic Mensa explained.

Vic debuted the video at the Justice for Laquan Rally! CPAC Now! Protest & March in Chicago’s Millennium Park, which took place from 7PM-9PM.
