(AllHipHop News) After earning a record 13 American Music Award nominations this year, Drake ended up leaving the event with four trophies.
One of those awards was for “Best Rap/Hip-Hop Artist,” and the “One Dance” performer used his acceptance speech to take veiled shots at other rappers.
“For our genre, I just like to keep things exciting and keep making music. Shout out to everybody that’s trying to do the same thing,” said Drake.
He later added, “Watch how you speak on my name you know.”
Drake was not clear exactly who he wanted to heed his warning.
Several other rap stars – such as Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, and Joe Budden – have called out the OVO founder by name over the last few years.
The most recent incident was Kanye West’s epic Sacremento rant which included Ye suggesting the radio plays Drake and DJ Khaled’s “For Free” too much.
