Chance The Rapper Urges Fans To #StayWokeandFight In Response To Donald Trump’s Election

CHANCE THE RAPPER WANTS YOU TO #STAYWOKEANDFIGHT

(AllHipHop News) Chance the Rapper is heading to Howard University in 2017, during an event hosted by the Youth & College Division of the NAACP.

Chance will speak to a gathering of youth activists next month, where the parties will discuss how to plan and respond to new civil rights violations which are expected under Donald Trump’s new administration.

The leaders of the Youth & College Division will partner with Justice League New York and the Empowerment Movement to launch a new initiative is called #StayWokeandFight.

Organizers say it will involve protests and other activism to call for criminal justice reform, and education investment.

The three organizations worked together to register thousands of new young voters during the 2016 election and they have a goal of ushering in a new era of activism, in response to the election of Donald Trump.

Since Trump’s election, New York City alone has seen a 110% spike in hate crimes, while states like Michigan and Texas have also seen huge outbreaks of religious and race-based violence.

“We are faced with a moral and ethical crisis during this critical time in our nation’s history after the election of Donald J. Trump,” said Stephen Green, Director of the NAACP Youth & College Division. “This moment calls for young leaders to gather together and develop a strategy to protect the human and civil rights of all Americans through nonviolent resistance.”

On January 20th, the organizers will host the “People’s Inaugural Ball,” which will be followed by the “People’s Inauguration” rally at Howard on January 21st at 9 a.m.
