Keegan-Michael Key Talks Voicing A “Washed Up” Rapper On ‘The Simpsons’ (VIDEO)

SNOOP, COMMON, RZA & TARAJI ALSO TAPPED FOR THE HIP HOP THEMED EPISODE

(AllHipHop News) An upcoming episode of The Simpsons will center around a Hip Hop theme.

Several high-profile entertainers contributed to the show which also serves as an homage to F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.

Keegan-Michael Key (MADtv, Key & Peele) provided the voice of Jazzy James, a character described as a “washed-up rapper.”

Fox has now released a clip of Key discussing his role on the animated series.

“We were talking about how to settle on the voice,” said the actor. “He’s got small dreadlocks and for some reason a person who got small dreadlocks, he gonna be a little up here in his voice. I don’t even know why that’s the case.”

The hour-long “The Great Phatsby” episode will also feature cameos by Hip Hop stars Snoop Dogg, Common, and RZA.

In addition, Taraji P. Henson of Empire was cast as a guest for the show.

“It’s a tale of greed, excess, betrayal, revenge, and ruthlessness, and there’s a hilarious goose in it. The goose is really funny,” Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman told Entertainment Weekly in December.

“The Great Phatsby” is scheduled to air on January 15 at 8 ET/7 C on Fox.
