DMV Rapper Jay IDK Starts #MumbleRapChallenge (VIDEO)

‘THE EMPTY BANK’ ALBUM CREATOR SAYS IT’S ALL IN FUN

(AllHipHop News) We’ve seen the #SoGoneChallenge, the #MannequinChallenge, and the #SouljaBoyChallenge take over the internet.

Rising DMV Hip Hop artist Jay IDK is looking to get another trend going.

The Money Bank album creator shared his #MumbleRapChallenge with his 23,000 Twitter followers.

“Mumble Rap” has become a description for rappers that focus more on flow and melody than lyrical ability and enunciation.

Some of the acts connected to the phrase include Future, Young Thug, Desiigner, Fetty Wap, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, and Migos.

While the phrase “Mumble Rap” often has a negative connotation associated with it, Jay IDK insisted his video was meant to be lighthearted.

“Playing Culture the album [by Migos] for the 99999th time still,” wrote the HXLY TRiBE head on Twitter. “We just having fun. Relax.”

Back in 2015, Hopsin was less conciliatory when he called out Mumble Rappers in his video titled “No Words.”

The vid opens with Hopsin saying, “Man, rap today f-cking sucks bad. I don’t give a f-ck what anybody says. These fools ain’t spitting no type of dope sh-t. But that’s not even the bad part. They’re not even saying words anymore. They just got a hard ass f-cking beat to trick dumb a#### like you to make you think you like the sh-t.”
