Spotify Podcast To Examine Chris Lighty’s Life

CHRIS LIGHTY’S STORY WILL BE HEARD

(AllHipHop News) Reps for Spotify confirmed they are working on three new podcasts that will air beginning later this month.

One of the new shows will tell the story of veteran music executive Chris Lighty, Spotify revealed.

“The Chris Lighty Story” will examine Lighty’s life in detail, starting with his early days in the South Bronx carrying crates for artists like DJ Red Alert, KRS-One and Scott La Rock.

Chris went on to help launch a number of artists careers through his Violator Management company, which handled 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Cee Lo Green, LL Cool J, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Missy Elliott and others.

Unfortunately, Chris Lighty killed himself in August of 2012.

Host Combat Jack will offer up an intimate look at Lighty’s life through interviews and Q&A’s with a variety of artists who benefited from Lighty’s business expertise.

Russell Simmons, Fat Joe, Warren G, The Violator Crew, Noreaga, DJ Red Alert and others weigh in on the late executive’s career during the podcast.

“The Chris Lighty Story” is supposed to debut in April and is produced by Gimlet Media and Combat’s Loudspeaker Network.

The other two podcasts Spotify is launching centers around TV music and festivals.

“Showstoppers” will be hosted by Fader’s magazines editor in chief Naomi Zeichner and will focus on original interviews with stars from music and television.

“Unpacked” features hosts Matt FX, music supervisor for Comedy Central’s Broad City, and Michele Santucci of Spotify Studios.

The pair travel to festivals around the country for daily interviews with musicmakers, filmmakers, app-makers, food-makers and other creatives.
