Quavo Says Doing A Record With Frank Ocean Closes The Case On Controversial iLoveMakonnen Comments

THE MIGOS MEMBER IS READY TO MOVE PAST THE MATTER

(AllHipHop News) Migos found themselves in hot water after comments attributed to the Atlanta group were viewed by some as homophobic.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Migos member Quavo was quoted responding to the news fellow Atlanta native iLoveMakonnen revealed he was gay by saying, “Damn, Makonnen! They supported him?”

He also questioned Makonnen’s supposed history of selling drugs because of his homosexuality.

The “Bad & Boujee” performers later issued a statement claiming they “are fans of Makonnen’s music” and “love all people, gay or straight.”

They also apologized if they offended anyone.

Quavo again addressed the situation in a cover story for Billboard.

The publication reads:

Talking to Quavo, it’s clear he’s not outright homophobic. “If you real from the heart, you real from the heart,” he says. “That ain’t got nothing to do with no sex or gender. It’s 2017, and we all living.” But he still doesn’t quite seem to get it. “When [Makonnen’s] music came out I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way…” He pauses. “I got a record with Frank Ocean [“Slide,” a Calvin Harris track featuring Migos and Ocean]. That closes my case.”

Ocean came out as bisexual in a 2012 Tumblr post.
