Kendrick Lamar Earns Third Platinum Album With ‘DAMN’

ANOTHER BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR KUNG FU KENNY

(AllHipHop News) It only took three weeks for Kendrick Lamar’s third major label album to earn a platinum plaque.

The TDE emcee’s DAMN has now totaled over 1 million album units.

Interscope announced the achievement on Twitter by simply posting, “DAMN. is now PLATINUM #TDE.”

Both of Lamar’s previous major label LPs – good kid, m.A.A.d city and To Pimp a Butterfly – earned platinum status.

gkmc took nearly a year to pass the million unit mark, while TPAB was not certified platinum for close to a year after its release as well.

Kendrick’s discography also includes the gold-certified project Section.80.

At the moment, DAMN holds the record for the highest first-week album sales for 2017.

The LP opened with 603,000 sales plus streaming units and added another 238,000 units in week two.

DAMN is predicted to collect around 160,000 to 170,000 units in its third week.
