Dr. Dre Commits $10 Million To Help Build Performing Arts Center In Compton

THE LEGENDARY PRODUCER IS GIVING BACK TO HIS HOMETOWN

(AllHipHop News) Andre “Dr. Dre” Young is giving back to his hometown of Compton, California.

Billboard reports Dre is committing $10 million to build a performing arts center for the Compton High School.

The legendary Hip Hop producer is also helping to raise additional funds for the facility.

“My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve,” stated Dre. “The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future.”

The center is set to break ground in 2020.

It will feature a 1,200-seat theater and digital media production equipment.

Dre and his Beats business partner Jimmy Iovine previously donated $70 million to the University of Southern California.

The contribution established the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation program.

Dr. Dre’s current net worth is reported to be around $740 million.
