(AllHipHop News) Last year, Kanye West was hit with a class action lawsuit filed in San Francisco’s U.S. District Court.
Plaintiffs argue the rapper broke his promise of only allowing The Life Of Pablo to be streamed on Tidal.
A supposed fan claims Ye deceived consumers into signing up for Tidal to hear the album but later put the project on other streaming platforms such as Apple Music.
“My album will never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal,” tweeted Kanye at the time.
The G.O.O.D. Music leader’s legal team wants the case dismissed.
Billboard published a response from Kanye’s lawyers:
The versions of The Life of Pablo that are available on other streaming services are different from the original, Tidal-only version. Plaintiff does not dispute that there are differences between the versions of the album available on the different streaming services, and therefore he has not shown that Mr. West’s tweet about the exclusivity of The Life of Pablo on Tidal was false.
Kanye has referred to his seventh studio LP as a “living breathing changing creative expression.”
TLOP initially debuted via Tidal on February 14, 2016.
By March, Ye reportedly began making changes to the album.
A song titled “Saint Pablo” was added to the tracklist that June.
Kanye West has since attempted to cut ties with Tidal, alleging the company owes him bonus money for bringing new subscribers to the platform.
Tidal is said to be considering suing West as well.
