DJ Khaled Hopes To Jumpstart Buju Banton's Post-Prison Career

The superproducer and the reggae legend are in the studio together.

(AllHipHop News) DJ Khaled is in the studio with reggae singer Buju Banton who was recently released from prison in the U.S.

The 45-year-old musician, real name Mark Anthony Myrie, served seven years in Georgia's McRae Correctional Facility after being found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine in 2011.

He was released on December 7 and was welcomed home by waiting fans upon his arrival in Jamaica's capital, Kingston.

Khaled made his first visit to Jamaica in 12 years, arriving in the Caribbean island at the weekend along with son Asahd, to greet his longtime friend, and has since posted pictures of them working in the studio.

"Working on FATHER OF ASAHD @bujuofficial said Khaled today is my first day back in studio , I SAID WHAT A SPECIAL DAY ! JAH WORKS! BLESS UP THE RASTA ! FAMLIY TING!," he wrote. "Over 25 years of friendship ! Those that know , KNOW . Get to know the story FATHER OF ASAHD x @bujuofficial".

Khaled, who used to live in Jamaica and first became friends with the reggae icon in the 1990s during his DJ days, shared several pictures of himself with Buju in the studio, and of himself meeting reggae star Sizzla and Jamaican Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt.

The producer is currently working on his new album Father of Asahd, while Buju is gearing up for his comeback Long Walk To Freedom tour, which will begin next March.

So far, his reps have confirmed the first show will take place in Jamaica, with others are scheduled for Nassau, Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago.
