AllHipHop had an opportunity to chat with Cardi B at the Spark Awards where she expressed her admiration for the late, great Nipsey Hussle and as she touched on what she's currently focused on.
AllHipHop: How did the loss of Nipsey Hussle as well as his artistry impact you?
Cardi B: I listened to everybody that was nominated for the Grammys [in] the category right. I thought his album was amazing, and then you know the thing is, he does a lot of conscious rap, but the good thing about him is, he did a lot of conscious rap, but he also like lived it. There’s a lot of people who do conscious rap but they don’t really do much for the community, but he did a lot, and he did a lot of things that I didn’t really know. I wish I would’ve known sooner. It’s like he really inspired me. Sometimes I be scared to do things in my community because my community is very violent, but it’s just like man, if he did it in his community, and it’s the same way as mine, it’s like maybe I can do it.
AllHipHop: What's next for Cardi? What are your current goals?
Cardi B: Well I have a vision board, and I have a certain amount of money that I want to reach, and in order for me to reach that amount, I have to do certain types of things, and that’s the certain types of things that I can do. I seen a lot of people do certain sh*t, and it’s like if that b*tch can do it, I can do it too. Ain’t nothing going to MF stop me because I need it, I want it, and I’m going to go f*cking get it.
