(AllHipHop Features) R&B siren Elle Varner is back and the queen has a different grind as a business woman with a new label venture. The Los Angeles native has jumpstarted this new phase of her Grammy Award Winning career by releasing a new project, Ellevation, on her label. Ellevation is the latest since 2012's Perfectly Imperfect, which garnered her a loyal, lifelong following. The nine-song offering has her paired up with Wale and Rapsody.
"I was living my life, creating. I've been all over the country with different artists like Mac - rest in peace. Different producers," she explains. "It was the first time I got to craft my sound as an independent - I'm running the show. It's my session. And that was really cool. My dad wasn't there - he's one of the best producers alive." (Note: Elle is the daughter of singer / song writers Mikelyn Roderick and Jimmy Varner)
Elle's definitely showing her classic side but also has some fun stuff on deck for her fans. However, this interview reveals so much about her: from her struggle to transition to label boss, to working with J. Cole to Rapsody to Wale, swooning over another queen - Beyonce. Check out her conversation with Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur and come to your own conclusions.
