(AllHipHop Features) Prodigy of Mobb Deep died a year ago to the day.
Albert Johnson passed away suddenly on June 20, 2017 at the young age of 42.
P, Mobb Deep and AllHipHop have done numerous shows and countless interviews through the years.
At times, P would do a show or interview without Havoc. He was always available and down.
When he died, Prodigy’s life was looking better than ever. He was supremely health conscious and had even written a cookbook.
I got that book signed at an event at Barnes & Noble, one of only a few autographs I have. Our final interaction was similar to when I first met P. We talked knowledge.
See, when I first “met” Prodigy, I was working in an Afro-centric store in New York City, while looking for work. He would come in there and buy books, and I knew right then and there he was different than his peers.
Shortly before dying, he had dropped Hegelian Dialectic (The Book Revelation), a new album, and was about to start another book on health and wellness. Furthermore, he said he and Havoc had quite a lot of new music done, even though it has not been released since he died. Prodigy was a legitimate good dude and his actions spoke louder than his bars to those that interacted with him.
Here are some moments that we have shared with Prodigy and Mobb Deep through the years.
