If there's one artist that loves Whitney Houston, it is Sam Smith!
Hit-maker and famed recorder producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is celebrating his 20th anniversary in the music business with a commemorative album of hits he has written and or produced with some of music's brightest stars. In addition to his announcement that Ariana Grande and Jessie J would be recording his produced hit "The Boy Is Mine" (originally recorded by Brandy and Monica), he also revealed that soul singer Sam Smith would be covering Whitney Houston's "It's Not Right But It's Ok."
In an interview with Hits Daily Double, Jerkins revealed Sam Smith's involvement in the project.
“Sam [Smith] is doing “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay” by Whitney Houston, which Sam told me was the song that made him want to sing,” the 37-year-old said. “When I asked him if he’d be a part of this project he was like, “No one else can do that song but me!” Sam’s the truth. He has a great heart and he’s genuine. His music speaks for who he is. This is a project I’m really looking forward to.”
