So, Iggy Azalea scraps her album. Let's talk hip hop. Aight, yo, this
situation is crazy, right? Because Iggy Azalea went on Twitter yesterday
0:14
and she wrote a lengthy post about scrapping her
album that is supposed to be coming out this year
0:20
right? She actually said that she's walking away from music. Essentially, maybe
she's retiring from rap, right? I don't think she's retiring from entertainment
0:29
but she wrote a lengthy post. Basically, on
that post, she said that she hasn't been
0:34
passionate about music for a while now. It's been
months that she's been working on her album. She
0:39
put it on pause because she's not passionate
about it and she really just is not excited
0:44
to actually pursue music going into the new year,
right? She says she wants to focus more on things
0:49
where she feels more creative, like design
and creativity, whatever that means, right
0:56
So, maybe she'll get into fashion or start,
you know, who knows, right? The whole situation
1:01
though, is that Iggy Azalea is a white woman from
Australia, right? So, she came over here to New
1:08
York and she started rapping with this black sin
and people thought that she was from the US at
1:12
first. And so, really and truly, she's probably
sick of putting on a front or, you know, just
1:18
using her persona. And she's like, yo, I want to
stop doing this, right? She also addressed the
1:23
fact that a lot of people think that she has been
bullied out of hip-hop or bullied out of rap
1:29
And I don't think that. I just think that she's
not connecting with the fans. People don't really
1:34
resonate with her. So, why would they listen to
the music? Also, the record label probably told
1:38
her, let's not proceed with this because it's
going to probably cost the record label more money
1:44
to make the album than they're going to get from
the album actually streaming, right? They got to
1:48
pay producers, writers, features, whatever the case
may be, right? And so, it actually makes sense
1:53
for her to stay in entertainment and just be
yourself, right? At the end of the day, now she
1:58
wants to get into design and creativity, whatever
that means, she would be able to be herself, right
2:04
And so, in that lengthy statement, that's what she
said. She was like, anything I touch, you'll be
2:08
able to see my personality on it. You'll be able
to see my quirk, how quirky I am, how fun I am
2:13
Yeah, let's see that, right? Because as a rapper,
you're bland, you're boring, and you're trying to
2:17
stick to this formula because that's not really
you, right? Let's see how she does in another
2:22
medium, man. Maybe this will be better for her,
right? I mean, I don't think that anybody in hip
2:27
hop has ever been bullied out of rap. Maybe
Azealia Banks, maybe, right? But I don't know
2:35
The whole situation is crazy. And I mean, yeah, let
me know what y'all think about this in the comments
