SOL Development Is Back With Another Thought Provoking Statement On America

SOL Development creates another artistic masterpiece that examines life & trying times of Black America.

(AllHipHop Music) Nina Simone famously stated, "An artist's duty, as far as I'm concerned, is to reflect the times.” This mantra seems to be the modus operandi of SOL Development, the eclectic musical collective. The ensemble, fronted by Karega Bailey, has a deep history of activism and the commiserate artistic pursuits. Their latest is "Helicopters," is an ode to their native Oakland. The group explained the video in a statement.

We need more art that addresses the black experience with such intention and succinctness. Helicopter is about historocizing and contextualizing the black experience so that we begin to understand the precarious nature of black life in America or globally for that matter, because systemic oppression knows no geographic boundary. However, central to our survival, is understanding who we are how we got here. We are children of the diaspora. Long suffering is within us. Light is within us. -SOL Development
