(AllHipHop News) Shéyaa Bin "21 Savage" Abraham-Joseph's Leading By Example Foundation partnered with Amazon Music, Atlanta United, and The Spice Group Executive Producer/Chief Creative Strategist Antwanette McLaughlin to present the fourth annual "Issa Back 2 School Drive." The event took place in Decatur, Georgia.
With the assistance of New Era and Puma, Savage was able to provide over 2,300 backpacks filled with school uniforms, school supplies, and sneakers to his Glenwood Road community in the East Atlanta area. Additionally, volunteers and sponsors offered kids free haircuts/hairstyles, health screenings, and family fun activities.
Leading By Example Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to spearhead Abraham-Joseph's philanthropic endeavors. Through Leading By Example, 21 Savage also handed out $21,000 in scholarships by opening 21 bank accounts for teens and students as part of the Get Schooled "Bank Account" initiative.
Earlier this year, 21 launched the second phase of the "Bank Account Campaign" With Get Schooled and Juma. The Grammy-nominated rap star gave Juma a $15,000 check at the "Issa Back 2 School Drive" in order for the national nonprofit organization to continue teaching financial literacy and encouraging youth to open bank accounts.
"While my #1 song was called 'Bank Account,' growing up, I knew almost nothing about bank accounts,” said 21 Savage. “As I have gotten smarter about financial management, I realize how empowering it is to control your money rather than be controlled by it. I want to help kids with a background similar to mine to get smart about their money."
