(AllHipHop News) 21 Savage was just rapping on his Instagram Live about the reaction to the news he was born in the United Kingdom ("They keep talking that U.K. sh*t like I don't got AKs"). Apparently, his immigration situation is affecting his music career.
TMZ reports that 21 was unable to get a work permit for eight months before finally getting approved in October. However, the Atlanta-raised rapper still cannot travel outside the United States.
According to the website, the immigration courts in Atlanta are bogged down with back cases and Savage has not been given a court date yet. There is speculation that his case may not be resolved for years.
21 Savage (born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph) was taken into ICE custody earlier this year for overstaying a visa. The British national insisted his family brought him to America around the age of 7 and he filed a U-visa application in 2017.
Last month, the National Immigration Law Center honored Abraham-Joseph with the Courageous Luminaries Award. Marielena Hincapié, Executive Director of NILC, stated, “We are committed to fighting for the rights of immigrants and we’re thrilled to honor 21 Savage for standing with us in this fight against this administration’s ongoing attack on immigrant communities."
Despite his issues with the Trump Administration's Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, 21 Savage continues to release new music. He recently dropped his "Immortal" single and appeared on the remix to Alicia Key's "Show Me Love."
