50 Cent Suggests ‘Verzuz’ Battle Between Lil Wayne & Drake

Will the longtime collaborators actually participate in the live series?

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson may be avoiding Verzuz matchups against T.I. and Ja Rule, but the Get Rich or Die Tryin’ rapper does have an idea for another potential faceoff. 50 thinks the world should get to see Young Money leader Lil Wayne and his protégé Drake take part in the celebration.

“I think because of the momentum, the best thing would probably be Wayne versus. Drake,” said 50 Cent during an Instagram Live session for Branson Cognac. “To keep it real with you. There are two different styles in the same period, so it will be entertaining enough to watch both of them.”

If that Verzuz battle was booked it would not be the first time Weezy and Drizzy clashed musically on stage. The two Hip Hop superstars played into the battle concept for their “Drake vs. Lil Wayne” co-headlining tour in 2014. The summer trek was based on Capcom’s classic Street Fighter video game.

After starting out as a social reprieve from the self-quarantining and social distancing caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Verzuz grew to become a highly successful cultural event. The next installment is set for January 9 when R&B singers Ashanti and Keyshia Cole present their respective catalog of hits.
