AHH Stray News: Soulja Boy Phone Mayhem, Flo Rida, Tru Life

Fans of Soulja Boy in the UK have bombarded an Oldham family with phone calls, due to lyrics in the chart-topping rapper’s hit single “Kiss Me Thru The Phone.” In the lyrics to the song, the rapper recites the number to his voicemail (678-999-8212), while encouraging listeners to give him a buzz. In the United States, the number is powered by a SayNow, a technology company that enables stars to use a dedicated number to interact with calls. In the UK, the number rings to the home of Gerry Matley and Catriona Howard Smith. According to reports, the couple is receiving over 60 calls per-day. They say fans are disappointed to learn that it’s an actual residence and not Soulja Boy’s line.

Flo Rida and Sean Kingston will headline the ‘Rock the Rapids’ concert series this August, organizers of the event have announced. The Rock the Rapid in Comstock Park, Michigan, takes place at the home of the minor-league baseball team The West Michigan White Caps. The first event in the two-day concert series is the Chickenfoot concert, which takes place on August 13. Flo Rida and Sean Kingston will take to the stage the following evening (August 14), with a variety of local acts. Tickets for the show, which takes place at the Fifth Third Ballpark, go on sale on July 2. Prices range from $20-$35. Roc-A-Fella rapper Tru Life has pleaded not guilty to a second-degree murder charge.

Tru Life, born Roberto Rosado Jr., was arrested after an attack in an apartment lobby in Manhattan on June 15 resulted in the death of another man, Christopher Guerrero, 20. Tru Life’s brother Marcus Rosado also faces similar charges. Tru Life signed a six-figure deal with Roc-A-Fella in 2005 and he was featured prominently in Roc-A-Wear advertising campaigns. The incident was caught on surveillance camera as well, according to police, who are holding Tru Life without bail.
