(AllHipHop News) The Superbowl halftime show is always one of the year's biggest moments in music. Over 100 million people watch the NFL championship game, so a lot of artists would jump at the chance to perform during the mid-game celebration.
It turns out Grammy-winning Hip Hop group OutKast turned down the opportunity to hit the stage at the Superbowl. Kast member Big Boi made the revelation during The Dan LeBatard Show.
Apparently, Big's partner Andre 3000 refused to shorten the duo's songs “The Way You Move” and “Hey Ya!” for the broadcast. The Big Grams collaborator mentioned he unsuccessfully tried to get Andre to change his mind.
"To this day, his son says, 'Daddy, you should've performed at the Superbowl,'" stated Big. "We look at it now and we laugh. Hopefully, they invite us back."
“The Way You Move” and “Hey Ya!” were big hits in the fall of 2003 which means the 2004 Superbowl was likely the game OutKast was asked to do. That was the year of Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" with Justin Timberlake. In revisionist history, Andre 3000 could have prevented one of the most talked about incidents in sports/entertainment over the last 20 years.
