(AllHipHop News) Late last week, Apple Music announced the launch of a new daily playlist titled Rap Life. The songs for the collection will be hand-picked by Apple Music’s editorial curators and overseen by Ebro Darden, Apple Music's Global Editorial Head of Hip-Hop and R&B.
”Apple Music has worked to uplift Hip-Hop and has earned the respect of the artists and the fans worldwide, so now we going to keep pushing the culture forward with Rap Life. The playlist was A-List Hip Hop, but we flipped it to dig deeper into the lifestyle.... pay attention!” states Darden.
Rap Life's signature playlist art will feature a different Hip Hop act each week. Dreamville leader J. Cole was selected as the inaugural cover artist. A different rapper from the Dreamville label will be the face of Rap Life throughout the week.
Additionally, Apple Music’ Beats 1 radio will soon present a Rap Life show centered around the playlist. The program will also feature music and important discussions covering Hip Hop culture.
The Rap Life Editors' Note on Apple Music reads:
Rap isn’t just a genre. There’s a reason it’s sometimes simply called The Culture: It’s a way of life. And this playlist—formerly known as The A-List: Hip-Hop—is where rap lives, breathes, and moves. Topped today by Bas and the Dreamville crew’s “Costa Rica,” off their Revenge of the Dreamers III album, Rap Life is home to hip-hop’s heavy hitters and vanguard—the stars and the songs that speak to the moment and define the culture today. Check back early and often, as our editors update this playlist regularly. If you hear something you like, add it to your library.
