Authorities To Question Man In JMJ's Murder

Investigators plan to question a man today (November

4) in connection with the shooting death of Jam Master Jay. According to the

New York Times, a man had threatened Jay during a telephone call several weeks

ago. The said that a man was "coming up" from the South to resolve

their problems.

A description of Jay's killer was released as

well. Authorities are seeking a 180-pound black male, 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches

in height. He allegedly wore a black sweat suit and black hat when leaving the


Mizell, 37, was shot by a masked gunman as he

Sources told that the man who shot

Jay had beef with Jay for almost a decade and was from the Queens area of New

York. Sources reiterated that it had nothing to do with rap music. Sources also

said that Jay's murderer could be arrested as early as tomorrow (November 5.)

A trust fund for Jay's wife and three children

has been set up be longtime friends Russell Simmons and Lyor Cohen. According

to reports they are raising money to purchase the family's Queens Village home

for the surviving family members.

There is also an effort by writer Yasmin Shariz

to petition Adidas. She he has a wife and three children -- has been set up

by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, Def Jam executive Lyor Cohen and others. They

are raising money to purchase the family’s $250,000 Queens Village home

so that Jay’s wife and kids can continue to live there.

“In times like these, hip-hop needs to band

together and collectively and peacefully build our communities,” Simmons


Additionally, there is the effort by writer Yasmin

Shariz to petition Adidas to establish a college fund for Jay's children.

A private and public viewing is scheduled for

today at the Jay Foster-Phillips Funeral Home in Saint Albans, Queens. A funeral

was to be held Tuesday at the Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Queens.
