Benzino Suggests Racism Played A Role In His Drug Arrest In Georgia

The former 'Love & Hip Hop' star is facing over ten years behind bars.

(AllHipHop News) Raymond "Benzino" Scott is willing to take his pending drug case to trial. In 2017, the ex-head of The Source magazine was arrested in the Atlanta area.

Benzino was charged with felony possession of THC oil gummies, felony possession of 6 MDMA pills, and misdemeanor possession of less than an ounce of weed. He's now speaking out about the legal situation.

"I can't talk too much about it, but one thing I can say is this, it's in Cobb County, Georgia, do your homework," the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum toldTMZ. "Cobb County, Georgia is one of the most racist counties, not just in Georgia, but in America."

Benzino also claimed police arrived at his building nearly two years ago with a warrant for his former next-door neighbor. The cops apparently smelled marijuana in the hallway, got a warrant to search Scott's apartment, and supposedly found the illegal substances in his place of residence.

The 53-year-old reality show star/rapper turned down a plea deal with prosecutors and plans to sue the police department once he is acquitted. If convicted, Benzino is said to be facing up to 15 years in prison.
