(AllHipHop News) Just one year ago, some people were declaring that Meek Mill's career was dead following his battle with Drake and his imprisonment in Pennsylvania. Reports of Robert Rihmeek Williams' demise were premature.
Meek is now one of the hottest emcees in Hip Hop. His Championships LP is on the short list for best rap albums of 2018, and he helped bring criminal justice reform to the forefront in the culture.
BET honored Meek's "tragedy to triumph" journey by naming him "Man Of The Year." The media outlet's Bonsu Thompson writes about the 31-year-old spitter, "Who Meek Mill is today is the best version of himself with more sky to climb."
Championships debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 229,000 first-week units. Fifteen songs from the album hit the Hot 100 chart, including Meek Mill's first Top 10 entry "Going Bad" featuring Drake.
