(AllHipHop News) The highly-anticipated remake of Disney's The Lion King will hit North American theaters on July 19. Grammy-winning vocalist Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is playing Nala in the photorealistic computer-animated movie.

Queen Bey also produced and curated an Africa-inspired album titled The Lion King: The Gift. The first single from the project and the official motion picture soundtrack is “Spirit." The song was written and produced by Knowles-Carter, Ilya Salmanzadeh, and Labrinth.

"This is sonic cinema," said Beyoncé. "This is a new experience of storytelling. I wanted to do more than find a collection of songs that were inspired by the film. It is a mixture of genres and collaboration that isn't one sound. It is influenced by everything from R&B, pop, Hip Hop and Afro Beat."

She added, "Each song was written to reflect the film's storytelling that gives the listener a chance to imagine their own imagery, while listening to a new contemporary interpretation. It was important that the music was not only performed by the most interesting and talented artists but also produced by the best African producers. Authenticity and heart were important to me."

The Lion King also stars Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Alfre Woodard, James Earl Jones, Florence Kasumba, Eric Andre, Keegan-Michael Key, John Oliver, John Kani, JD McCrary, and Shahadi Wright Joseph. The film was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book).
