(AllHipHop News) A beer named after Beyonce is to be discontinued after brewery bosses received a cease and desist letter objecting to the use of the singer's name.
Bieryonce, a beverarge made by Brooklyn, New York company Lineup Brewing, was released earlier this month, but its owner Katarina Martinez says only one batch will be sold as she has already received a legal threat telling her to stop using the name.
"As a Hispanic, female run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I'd pay homage," Martinez tells Pitchfork Media. "We're disappointed she didn't take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!"
According to the website, Martinez decided to brew the Bieryonce beer after missing one of the Formation singer's concerts despite having tickets.
Beyonce is notoriously protected of her brand, and is currently embroiled in a legal battle with bosses at a company called 47/72 Inc., who have filed an application to trademark the brand Poison Ivy Park.
The 36-year-old musician's legal team have filed an opposition to the application, claiming that Poison Ivy Park is too similar to her Ivy Park clothing brand, named in honor of her five-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.
