(AllHipHop News) Lil Nas X started a whole new wave with the country/hip-hop movement, and Big Boi might be the latest artist to hop on the bus.
Now, the Atlanta legend will be the only artist performing at Tailgate Fest, a country festival taking over Eastdate, California on August 17 and 18.
Big Boi will undoubtedly shut down the stage, joining huge country acts such as Brett Eldredge, Brantley Gilbert and Clint Black.
The “Kill Jill” rapper is more than ready to shut it down for his country fans.
“When you make global music, there’s a certain global appeal. When duty calls I go ahead. I guess they want a damn good time and I’m going to give it," Big Boi said.
In an interview with Press Enterprise, the 44-year-old also had a lot to say about music as a whole, while noting that he was around a lot of country music growing up in Atlanta, Georgia.
Big Boi said he loves “all types of music, from Conway Twitty to the Man in Black."
"Coming up, tailgating was a big part of what we were doing, because we grew up around all the sports teams. So going to the Falcons’ games and tailgating, or just going to the beach and tailgating, we’ve been doing that since I was little kid," Big Boi continues. "I mean, it’s all about fun and barbecue and music and family and food. We had a good time.”
